New Podcast, Spinoff Theme

I'm thinking about spinning up another podcast, focused on solo makers and solopreneurs only - think early stage, burning the midnight oil, people fighting the good fight to earn their first bit of revenue, building the next big thing.

A few questions:

  1. Is this a good idea?

  2. Which is your favorite name?
    Flying Solo
    In Flight
    Its Just Me
    Slingin Bits
    Solo Builder
    Solo SaaS or Saas Solo
    Solo Makers
    At It Alone

  3. If you do like it, who would be a good guest?

The world could definitely use more podcasts 💛

      I agree with this 100%

    1. It depends on your end goal and the quality of your content. The demand is there, that's for sure.
    2. I like Saas Solo for many reasons. Alliterations make names memorable, you can understand from the title what the podcast is about and target a very specific niche. You can also make good Star Wars memes (Han Solo). Flying solo is good too. I don't like the others.
    3. With this topic, I imagine the podcast more like a vlog where you recount all your failures and experiences during the past week/month. You could also have short daily episodes. It would also be a lot easier to get started at the beginning and save you time in the long run. You could also do interviews but I wouldn't make them the main format of your podcast.

    1. Love it
    2. I only don’t like It’s just Me and Slingin Bits. You could do something like “Going it alone: The SaaS Journey”? okay maybe that sucks ¯\(ツ)/¯
    3. All these podcasts have on guests that have already been successful by many marks. These means they have good lessons to teach perhaps, but I know one of the reasons I fell into listening to Build Your SaaS was because it was two guys fighting the fight. It would be cool to hear from more people more in the middle.

It’s 200% more work, but I wonder if there would be a way to pair a mid-flight solo guy with someone who could almost do a coaching session through something they are struggling with. A learning lesson for everyone. Maybe it’s an every so-often idea.

    1. yeah, good idea
    2. solo saas is good but limits you to saas (which maybe ok). Solo makers gives a broader scope
    3. so much choice. Plenty out there. But I really like the idea @RussBrown00 had about coaching sessions. Noah Kagan was doing some of those and they were interesting listening with actionable ideas.

    I like "Solo SaaS" 👍

    1. I would listen to it.
    2. I would call it "Gone Solo" because it rhymes with Han Solo. ;)
    3. People who are earning some MRR (so they've had a taste of success) but not a lot. Variety is the key here (i.e. not just people building SAAS products)
