New social media platform
Hey everyone I'm new to the platform and everything. Currently I'm creating my own social media platform and I was wondering if I could get your input. What do you feel is the future of social media and how does it personally make you feel? Even better..are there any features that you wish were included, or created, on IndieHackers( or even you favorite social media platform). Thanks for you time :)
I think it's healthy to have different social medias. Each can be different and have their own philosophy. What I don't like with the current ones is how much "shallow" they are: instead of real connection/engagement between users, we click "like" and follow. It makes the whole thing not personal.

Niceee I looked at what your building and it seems interesting. I like the ui and the main chill vibe of the site. If you dont mind me asking how did you get your initial users? I'm having trouble with that aspect
Thanks. :) It's been difficult to get the first users, but I think it was when I got featured on that page: https://sjmulder.nl/en/textonly.html - it was at the time first page on hackernews and allowed me to have the first 2-3 users. Since then, I tried to advertise on reddit (not very successful) and twitter.
Do you already have a first version of the social network you are willing to build?
Yeahhhhh im currently close to finish like a mvp for my platform so fingers crossed... but yeah thats awesome how many users would you say you have now?
Good luck on finishing the MVP! It's always hard to put it out there, there's always something else to do, but once it's out, you get to learn a lot!
At the moment there are roughly 100 people subscribed, and maybe 8-10 active users.
As someone who is also working on a new social networking platform, I am biased but strongly believe the future is focused/niche social networks based on interest groups. The key is less noise and more quality content. Happy to chat further!
