New website - feedback welcomed please

Hi all,

After some feedback that we weren't getting our point across (and dated look) for our data gateway with our old website we have re-designed our website using Versoly and documents using Mintlify both of which I would highly recommend.

I would appreciate any feedback either good or bad.

The website is https://slyce-io.co.uk/

Comments as a regular web user

    • Seeing an explanatory video or just a full width text based hero section better than seeing a screenshot from the dashboard.
    • All images quality in the page is so low (Maybe it's because this is still a preview version)
    • In the features section, if the images and texts would be flipped by row, that would reduce my scroll time.
    • I was surprised to see how it works section right above the footer, I feel that I should see it right below the hero section.

Overall, colors and explanations looks pretty. Good luck with your business :)

Stellar feedback, especially the last point about the location of the how it works section.

Your welcome. Hopefully, they are helpful !

Image quality is low for pretty much all images. That's one thing I wouldn't like to see as a normal web user as it's a bit offputting

Thanks for your time in looking - hmm a couple of people have said the same thing thanks but they look ok to my untrained eye.

      Do you mean the screenshots?

What resolution would you suggest for a web site?

      Thanks in advance

Hey jerrod i think that the site looks perhaps a bit tacky

I mocked up a quick figma hero for the landing page - help guide you perhaps on the feel of the site

i cant share links yet since im new to indiehackers but if you would like i can DM you the figma prototype :)

    keep going my friend!

Congrats, it looks professional. Testing on mobile, saw It was missing a little bit of horizontal padding in the "How it works" sections. Also, I would replace "Rate NOT limited" to Unlimited Rate. Nice work mate!

    Feedback from a fellow designer:

    Hero Section:

Increase the size difference between H1 and description. Consider using a typescale for this purpose.
Create a hover state for the main CTA.
Reduce the opacity of the icons below the CTA and change their color to black.
Increase the size of the left column slightly and decrease the width of the right image by around 20%. It's acceptable to have a significant space between both columns.
Diminish the shadow on the image to make it more subtle.
Remove the line separator, as it's only used in this specific situation and not a common design pattern.

    Languages Section:

Increase the size difference between H1 and description.
Be specific in your copy and replace "within minutes" with "within 2 minutes".
Utilize neutral colors for the logos image. Too many colors can make the content harder to scan.

    Next Sections:

Continuously vary the text and illustration positions from left to right to maintain an engaging composition.
Increase the spacing between elements. Don't hesitate to use white space, as it enhances content readability.
Enhance the appeal of the images.

    Pricing Section:

Increase padding for each of the boxes.
Slightly tone down the gradient used in the Essential plan.
Add a label "Most Popular" to the Essential plan.

    How it works Section:

Move this section to directly below the hero section. This arrangement makes more sense from a storytelling perspective.

    Final Notes:

If possible, add testimonials/social validation to increase trust and conversions :)
    Look for Clerkdotcom for reference

Looks nice and clean, but I think the copy could do with a little more work. Copy is really really hard and I can't say I'm all that great at it myself, but to someone who does not know what CosmosDB is I don't have any idea of what this service does. That may be ok given that I'm not a Cosmos user though!

My advice would be to try and shorten this part down "SlyceIO is a data gateway for Azure Cosmos DB providing a single point of management for safe external access to your container data with fine grained security, querying and data validation."

... and have a dedicated section for each of the main points:

    • safe external acess
    • querying
    • data validation
    • fine grained security

"gateway for Azure Cosmos DB" sounds like should be your top line?

Breakup the sub-title, maybe to a point list, 3-5 word simple sentences.
