Newsletters into Podcasts

Like many people on here (I suspect) I went overboard on subscribing to newsletters, and now regularly ignore ~75% of them. This felt like a waste so I hacked together something turn all the newsletters into audio.

Forward any newsletter to narrate@ad-auris.com and the audio version is returned back!

Would love any feedback on the audio quality!

Really cool. I think a lot of freelance writers and journalists would be interested in using this and being able to easily provide audio versions of their work. How accurate is your solution in reading english? Does it ever make mistake? And what did you use to build this? I think it's pretty cool, definitely curious to know how its working briefly under the hood.

So to get my written work translated into speech, I just forward it to that address and it send me back a file of the text as audio? I'm hesitant to immediately forward an email to a site I don't know much about.

Perhaps theres a way to get people using your technology or product without us having to necessarily trust what initially appears as an untrustworthy domain. Could be a blocker of an otherwise interesting solution.

Thanks! Yeah, I've just heard about so many folks using the poor quality default synthetic voices on their phones and screenreader and looked into creating an easier alternative.

The raw text is turned into something called speech synthesis markup language which allows for annotations to improve the quality of the audio (e.g. correcting mispronunciations, etc) – so this is an opportunity for continual improvement.

I've made a web-app that's in private beta for running the same process for articles, and websites. And hear you on forwarding to a random email – I'll get to brainstorming on how to improve trust there!
