No coding background. Built an AI tool anyway. Here's my first big mistake.

Title: I built an AI tool for Arabic copy with no coding background. Here's what I got wrong first.

A year ago I had zero background in AI or programming. Today I'm building EmotifyAI — a Chrome extension + web app that turns dry product descriptions into copy that actually sells, tuned to the dialect and buying psychology of the Gulf market (not translated English).

The gap most AI tools have: they write Arabic that's grammatically correct but emotionally dead. A customer reads it and scrolls past. That's the problem I'm solving.

My first big mistake: I built it desktop-first. My users are store owners who run everything from their phones — in the car, between meetings, late at night. A tool that isn't effortless on mobile loses them. So I scrapped it and rebuilt mobile-first.

What I own vs. what I don't: I'm not a coder. I designed the product and built the prompt engine myself (that's the real IP), then brought in a developer to ship the code. Learning where my edge is — market + language + psychology — vs. where I needed help was its own lesson.

Still in development. Sharing the journey as I go.

Question for this community: for those who shipped without a technical background — what was the moment you realized you needed to bring in a developer, and how did you structure that without giving away the whole thing?
