No one wants to download your S@%$!

Steven Pressfield gives great interviews. He also writes well, penning The Legend of Bagger Vance, a top seller of the past century.

Getting his start in advertisement, Steven summed up writing ads in one sentence: ‘"No one wants to watch you S***."

No wants to see an ad. They skip immediately past.

And so because of that, you have to write the script in a way that grabs people and engages.

It’s exactly the same with creating apps.

Literally no one wants to download a new app. Have you ever met someone who said, “You know what I need? A new app?”

Whether they tell you or not, you’re playing to a hostile crowd. It’s your job to figure out how to win them over.

And you better do it under 10 seconds.

Like a Hollywood writer, this type of thinking will help you comb through your copy, slice out onboarding steps, and deliver value.

If you don’t, people are deleting it.

Finally, meriting its own post, once people download your app, don’t complain when they don’t use it.

View your app as a piece of music. Would you be mad if a friend wasn’t in love with your album? No, you might think “hmm, maybe I could make a better album” or find other people who really love it.

The same is true with apps. When that bass—or haptic feedback—is hitting they will come.

But don’t pressure friends to like what you’ve put out. And as importantly, don’t take it personally if they don’t
