Nomads: recommend a mail scanning/forwarding/virtual office service!
Hi folks. I'm embarking from Miami, FL for some nomad-ing and looking to establish a local address (not a P.O. Box) at which I can receive mail, etc., until I come back and settle here again—without having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars in monthly rent or wages for someone dedicated to managing my mail. I'm interested in this both for personal purposes and for business purposes (to list my LLC here). When I google this, I see many services offering to receive mail for me, typically for $10 to $20 a month plus various added fees (for scanning mail, etc.)... and they all look sketchy... :( Surely there's a trustworthy service for this kind of thing. Do any of you use a service that you use and can heartily recommend?
How about mum and dad? Close relatives? Typically $0/month.
Yes, a good suggestion generally, I think! And, I would probably strongly consider this, BUT... all of my relatives live in one particular U.S. state that is notoriously aggressive about asserting the right to collect state taxes from anyone who has any association with the state. I think I’m much better off not establishing any ties with the state.
So true, they could just use an app like Scanner Pro and have the documents uploaded to your Dropbox
The only one I heard of someone using was https://www.earthclassmail.com/pricing but the price is higher than what you're looking for... maybe https://www.sasquatchmail.com ?
Thanks, @richp_. Earthclassmail looks good but is indeed much more pricey than I'm hoping for. Sasquatch is more in the range, but doesn't appear to allow me to set it up with a local address. I may contact them, though, to see if they do in fact offer that. The website is not totally clear.
I don't suppose you've used either of these services before?
I haven't used either so all second-hand info. One other option to look into is where some co-working spaces offer a mail collection/scanning option. You could look at local spaces and see what they offer.
