Non-business ideas?

I always liked learning by doing. However, I am in a period where I can't come up with ideas that motivate me. I am not looking for business-like ideas. I am thinking more about things that are a nice challenge, or a fun project.

For example, some years ago I built a system to monitor the temperature of my house using a couple of ESP32 and stream the data to a Flask server which would plot it in real time.

Do you have any fun projects laying around?

    @daviddel runs https://www.ideasdrop.com/ and has a newsletter https://www.fiveideasaday.com/

    I'm not sure what the community is really like but he has some great ideas...he's a project idea machine literally.

      I'm checking it out, seems fun. Although, judging by the quality of the 'free' ideas on the website, the 10U$/months is very steep. I've signed up for the free newsletter. Let's see :-)

    I have been playing around with machine learning projects lately.

    The book Programming Collective Intelligence is an excellent introduction to the (very) basics with examples in Python. I took those examples and applied them to different data sets that I found interesting, like a database version of The Flavor Bible.

    It's not cutting edge or going to make you a million dollars, but I ended up building a tool that helps me find matching ingredients based on my ongoing tastes, for example.

      That's cool!
      I'll check out the book! I am not looking to making money, I am looking to hobby-like projects.

      Thanks for the link, I'll check it. More than exercises, I was looking for project ideas,even if they don't have a business perspective.
