Not being an asshole will make you more money

It's true, but, more importantly, it will make you a real human that makes the world better.
@csallen, I think that it's much more important than just money.
i love these two posts by paul g:

Thanks @csallen for sharing this. Agree with this, being empathetic and kind is so important to us.
In our business, we treat all of our customers and prospects with respect and kindness as we genuinely want to help people. We also understand the struggles of running a business (it's really hard), so it makes us want to help them even more so.
I completely agree with this. We're on the side of being relentlessly helpful and kind as possible with all our interactions (phone calls, emails, in person, etc.)...even if we know if there is no dollar / sales amount tied to it. It's not even about our reputation. It's more being a kind and decent human being that contributes positively to this world with enough assholes.
being a bit of one couldn't hurt. Might hurt alot less than idealism.
I would say that well over 95% of the people I've collaborated with while building Indie Hackers have been extraordinarily kind. I can name the assholes on one hand. I've heard others talk bad about them, and I've probably talked bad about them, too. Reputation matters. So I wouldn't underestimate the negative effects, unless you're extremely rich and famous and can get away with doing whatever you want.
