I'm feeling stuck with my minimal SaaS product (https://suppliersecurity.info).
The leads I had either built a similar tool in-house or told me they are not interested "at the moment". I got these leads by contacting many people on LinkedIn and having deeper discussions with 5 companies.
The fact that they won't buy or tell me what additional features they would need to buy, tells me either the product is not there yet or the problem is just not big enough.
To be honest, I feel a bit deflated and don't really know which steps to take next. Suggestions very welcome!
BACKGROUND
Suppliersecurity.info provides up-to-date security and compliance data on companies and is meant to be plugged into a security vendor management tool.
The term security vendor management is a synonym for "Companies tracking where their data is and how securely it is protected". They do this for security and legal reasons. Certifications like ISO27001 and SOC2 are often requiring this.
The product itself is something I wanted when I was a CISO, as I had to do this research myself.
I built the prototype, to be able to show prospective customers something. There are of course many things wrong with the website/app itself, which is why I did conf calls with demo's and cold reach out.
Can you explain in simple words -
Thanks! I've started changing the copy on the homepage, but I've made it worse for now (it's more of a wall of text right now). I'll need a couple of additional iterations (+ visuals) to improve it again.
But you and Pedro triggered me: I think the most important thing to do is to have more conversations with potential customers again, to learn how they think about it and be able to use their language/words better.
This line says it all ... "The product itself is something I wanted when I was a CISO, as I had to do this research myself." ... you have your product centered in you not the clients ...
So what do you do ?
1 - Change that domain of yours ... it's not appealing
2 - Your site doesn't transmit a simple message of what you sell ... make a video or a demo
3 - Don't focus on the product features ... focus on the value added to your clients
4 - tracking data sounds ... illegal ... change the text
5 - put some images on your site ... where is company logo ... for god sake ;)
6 - Where are the contacts in there ? They are made from brain to brain ? don't hide them in the about option ... make a contacts option :)
7 - Put the same photo you have on twitter on linkedin ... everything helps :)
Pedro
I've started changing the wording and have added a contact option (that'll indeed be easier than brainwaves... :-) )
Images/visuals will take a bit more work, but have that next on my list.
Thank you very much! Those are all actionable things I can fix!
