(Not so) Simple app with list of IT events

This is my second approach to launch eventlist.io. For the first time it turned out that the database quality (aka events) is far from perfect and even I would not use the app ;) Couple of weeks later I can say it good enough.

I'd love to get some feedback, especially about:

  • what was your first thought after looking at landing
  • how you understand what app does
  • would it be better to remove for now the pricing section if app is mostly free (pro plan removes ads, but there are no ads at all)
  • what information is missing?

You can see how app works without signing in: example list of Full Stack Developer living in SF

I really like your tool. I'm in a similar space (tech events) so I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

My only feedback is to make it really clear who the tool is for and what problem it solves. It's a little bit broad (ie: anyone who wants to know about new tech events). It might do better as a business tool of you made it more focused on technical marketers who want to attend events to find leads, or developers who want to learn more by attending events.

Once you figure out what problem you're actually solving, you'll probably have an easier time making money and charging more.

Karl, thanks for the feedback. You made me think about what problem the app is actually solving.

The original one was to just simplify searching for tech events. When I asked people where they were looking for events, the answer was generally: facebook, eventbrite, meetup or 10times. So the copy is about how to find the relevant events easier, not why to attend at all. Focusing on the latter would change .. everything (event info would be more about who else is attending, not what the event is about).

    Hi @tomblock,

Your tagline is clear, I agree with you to remove the pricing as there are no ads.

I would suggest having a different background color for each section. Currently, there is none.

Good idea, hope you make it great.

    All the best.

Thanks. One thing that's blocking me from removing pricing is that I hate hidden pricings.

I really like how clean and well-placed everything is. Didn't even have to read all the copy to understand what the app does. The demo templates were a very good touch. Helped me quickly see it in action.
The Event list page seemed a little bit busy. Not sure if the cards are too close together. I love the check my time feature, the ability to add and remove tags from the list and how the card expands to give more info. Really nice job!

Thanks for the feedback! It's a great feeling when someone takes a few minutes to check out the product and write a comment.

Good point at 'busy' listing. It definitely need some ui designer work, but I try to keep costs low.
