Hi Indie parents! I am an indie parent too and I built a marketplace for parents to exchange second hand kids stuff.I built it quickly with a no-code tool and it is now just sitting there. Design is crap and has some bugs.
I don't know if I should invest time to market it and how to go about it. my competition would be Facebook market places and ebay etc. I am based in Sydney Australia and here second hand online market is owned by gumtree which was bought by ebay. I feel very daunted to take any action.
If you could honestly list down couple of reasons why someone on those marketplace should shift to your site, that should give you some confidence to continue experimenting. The way I see it is, if you can’t think of reasons, how do you expect your customers to see it and take action?
In addition, try to reach out to parents on gumtree of FB group and ask them what’s missing on those platforms that they would love to see. Can you build those differentiators in your platform?
Thanks for your comment. Very good points! There are a couple of reasons I thought parents would switch to using my site:
I will take up your suggestion and ask users on other platforms.
Thanks again
