Two weeks ago the Indie Hackers Worldwide meetup hosted a Q&A with Courtland (link to full interview).

There were a ton of choice takeaways, but here are some of my favorites:

Re: How to find market validation?

1. Validate your idea with the same distribution channel you will use to grow long term. Eventually every growth channel stops working.
2. You can't get discouraged if one channel doesn't work, another one might.
3. Make sure you're testing the right thing.
4. An idea is not just a product idea.
5. When the market is saturated you have to focus on product.

Re: Is Y-Combinator worth it for Indie Hackers?

There's no way not to work really hard in YC when your surrounded by mentors and smart people and YC makes it very hard to quit, but if you're sure you want to be an Indie Hacker, YC will test your faith.

The advice from all the founders of YC is how you can become a billion dollar unicorn company and they're not going to want to hear you just want to get to profitability. They want to see you go hard.

Every advantage you accrue helps get you to that next level, anything you do later becomes slightly easier.
