Offering free UX/UI feedback today!

Edit: taking a break for now - will come back to this later

Morning everyone,

Post your link below and I'll follow-up today with free UX/UI feedback + my initial impressions on your value prop and overall messaging.

I'm a UX/UI designer and I run Bolt - a platform that makes it super easy to collect visual feedback from clients and team members. ⚡

Offering feedback is a great way for me to test my own tool and pick up on bugs, and I enjoy giving back to the community too.

  1. 2

What a great offer. I'm would love to get some feedback on our platform.

Just added a screenshot of one of our core features which is the Backlink Engine. A view that provides our users with a list of contextual relevant link opportunities for them to reach out to or export.

Please let me know what you think :-D

EDIT: Oh shoot I forgot to include a link to the site: https://tabtimize.com/

Tabtimize Backlink Engine - contextual relevant link opportunities

Hey Jay, here you go! https://app.usebolt.io/board/mp7Cn1ZA1zRq7f7acXJ9xh/p

Not a lot of context for me so hard to give feedback, but I left a few points there

      1. 1

Thank you very much for your feedback!

I only came to the thought later that I forgot to add a link to the site, so can see that there was a lot of context missing. However, what you have commented on is very useful. So thanks again and a super nice app (Bolt). Would definitely recommend it to my network :-)

Hey Pip, we can do with all the feedback we can get right now! opinionx.co

    1. 1

Also Pip - what did you use to build your website? Is it a custom built job from scratch? It looks really great!

      1. 1

I built the front-end in Webflow and the rest is custom coded :)! Here's your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/8we3Nb6Lz9NK7eWfG46Lhr/p

        Great work!

        1. 2

Thanks Pip, Bolt is really slick and your feedback is great. Appreciate you taking the time!

        2. 1

Hey @pips - just wanted to say that your feedback was really great. It helped focus my efforts in redesigning the landing page during the weekend. Thanks again for taking the time!

          1. 1

Ah wonderful! My pleasure @danielkyne :)

        3. 1

A question about webflow - how did you add/implement the backend/core offering? I notice it redirects to app.usebolt.io - does that mean you use webflow for landing page and such then point users to another server/site? I'm coming from wordpress, so I would normally just add custom code to a php file and page, from what I understand is webflow is just a no-code CMS or does it do more?

          1. 1

Pretty much - I'm hosting all marketing pages on Webflow and any application pages redirect to the app.usebolt.io link.

I designed the whole front-end (including dashboard + feedback board pages) in Webflow and exported it so that I had the HTML/CSS/JS fully created, then just had to code up the backend.

In my opinion, Webflow is a designers' tool. It's as little like Photoshop for the web, but instead of drag + drop you set constraints like a developer would, but in a visual way. There is a learning curve for sure - if you can't design in Sketch/Figma/Photoshop, then you probably won't be able to design Webflow, but what you can do is access a lot of great templates to get you a lot of the way there.

            1. 1

FYI @JLenny this is also exactly how we're doing it at OpinionX too - we're using Squarespace for any app stuff and app.opinion.co for the product itself.

              1. 1

                Interesting, thanks for the replies!

      Here you go: https://app.usebolt.io/board/eVmGBMsMT7oiPd7NA9BnDx/p

Lovely UI and UX - great work! Communities are hard to build so communicating the value to the content creators is super important. Try to focus on that! Maybe look into gamifying your submission process

  4. 2

Bolt's website looks amazing! I would love to get some feedback about the old landing page that I'm going to rework (to improve it and add more content). Here's the link: https://usemindible.com

    1. 1

      Thanks! Here's your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/jzAjdAdgz8zXUKA9cgKpdW/p

      • I like the product - I think you can improve your body content + your main screenshot. I think you can also narrow your user journey / clarify your CTA.

      Really nice, clean UI though!

      1. 2

Thanks for your feedback! I'm going to rework the landing page with your tips since I re-started this side-project. Thanks again!

      1. 1

Thanks for the amazing feedback! We will definitely work on those points

Hey Pip, thanks for this, would love for you to take a look! ytt-tech.com

Hey Pip, I'd love you know what you think about Minecraft Playdates — Minecraft server hosting with parental controls to control playtimes, durations, and who your kids can play with

      1. 1

Thanks Pip, Love the feedback. It's specific, actionable, and spot on! I really appreciate it! Also, Bolt's UI is great, I could easily understand what each comment applies to!

One bit of feedback for you is I had to type in your homepage url to go learn about Bolt and look at pricing, I couldn't find a link from the app itself.

        1. 1

No problem, my pleasure :). Yes you're right - the logo in the left should take you to the page but it's not working. Will publish a fix for that!

  8. 1

    Thanks Pip!

We just launched our new landing page/website two weeks ago and would appreciate the feedback: Swoopnow.com

    The intentions behind the design:

An adventurous design that is informed by industry leaders that quickly informs our target audience that we are a unique solution that is innovative and secure.

Auth is hard, we make it fun and easy.

This solution uses custom illustration and treats the page as a new world where passwords never existed.

        wowzer.
        I didn't expect such a thorough response.

Pip, I appreciate you taking the time to help us improve our product's voice.

How can I help you with Bolt?
I signed up for an account but I wouldn't use it for my team (yet). I began my work with team feedback using Invision. I then moved to Figma as it allowed team members to make feedback as well as edits (at a cost of course). Adding my static design to Bolt would be an extra step in our feedback loop that would require more back and forth with the editable designs in Figma.

        1. 2

Not a problem :)! If your team already uses a paid version of Figma and you don't have too many 'editors', it makes sense to keep everything in Figma.

Bolt is primarily used for live / staging URLs (e.g. Webflow URLs) and for static designs where the software doesn't have feedback capabilities.

One use case for you might be when your Figma designs are turned into live websites. Your design team may have feedback for certain elements which haven't translated well/been created correctly, in which case they can grab the staging URL, paste it into Bolt and share it with the front-end devs.

    That's nice! :) I'm curious: www.sol75.com

      1. 1

Thank you! Really helpful :) btw, Bolt is cool! (The other day I was trying a similar tool, called Bubbles, it may be interesting for you to check out)

        1. 1

No problem! Yep I've seen them + a couple of others - really nice tool but different implementation (Chrome Extension). We wanted to make it seamless for clients / team to offer feedback without registering / downloading anything, but an Extension is also a great approach with plenty of upsides. Lots of space in this market for different players!

  10. 1

Thanks for the kind offer! I would really appreciate any feedback on https://coursemaker.org

    1. 1

Here you go! Super clean UI, but I've added a few suggestions - mostly to messaging / conveying value prop: https://app.usebolt.io/board/impDQi6udbYu34JRUMc3bJ/p

      1. 1

Thank you so much for this!

  11. 1

Hey Pip, here's our website: ecompilot.net
We are thinking that we should shorten the amount of text on the landing page, just not sure what to omit/how to shorten it. Thanks!

    1. 2

Hey, I wasn't able to open your website Chrome (no content loads, for some reason), but it does work in Safari.

      Your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/agHtfJu7ZuFwdqUfqPkyST/p

I agree that you can cut some content / make it more brief on your homepage. If users are interested, you can direct them to your features page (or a product page) to learn more

      1. 1

Thanks a lot for the feedback - great service with a very friendly UI, good luck with usebolt.io ! I'm a bit worried as to why you had no content load on Chrome, neither me or any of the current customers have had that problem, hopefully neither do the visitors (if you have a moment spare could you try again and/or perhaps send me the chrome version you're using or what country you're looking at it from? Would greatly help me to debug this).

        1. 2

All seems to load for me now - no idea why it didn't before!

          1. 1

Thanks a lot for the work! I've took your comments and I've started work on the landing page (just finished implementing freemium option so now how time to work on landing page).

You don't need to comment or check it out if you're too busy, but if you're wondering of how I've acted on your feedback I've already updated the hero image to something with "insights" and fixed safari divider issues (rest of the comments I'm still working on).

https://ecompilot.net/ Again good luck in your projects!

            1. 1

Had another look - it's looking a lot better already. The product image in the hero is great! Having the nav CTA button in view at all times is a fantastic UX change too

  12. 1

    Hey Pip,

Your landing page looks awesome, very simple yet clear.

If you still have time I would love to hear your opinion on https://usertrack.net

    1. 1

Also, is there a shortcut to go to the next note in Bolt? I tried arrow keys but they don't work.

      1. 1

No shortcut, but you can click the comments on the right and it'll filter through (this doesn't work for image boards, but it should - publishing a fix for this bug ASAP). Arrow keys is a great shortcut though - will add that to my roadmap.

        Here's your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/nKusCgRiqm6efhQfpmZY1m/p

        1. 1

Thanks, I will look at it now!

I noticed the list on the side, but it's hard to navigate as you see the comments you have no idea what they are referring too, you should normally first see the marker then the comment.

Also, if I click on a comment it doesn't scroll to the marker.

          1. 1

The markers are on the board but you can click through the comments to scroll through them, but if it's not working for you then that's a bug -- weird! What browser are you using?

I do intend to add an arrow scroll through (shortcut) but that seems more un-intuitive than just clicking the comments on the right (or clicking the marker). Definitely on the list though

            1. 1

I am using the latest version of Chrome on Windows.

Yes, I click on the comment it highlights the marker but it doesn't scroll to it.

              1. 1

Thanks for letting me know - will investigate!

    Got room for 1 more?
    https://JustFitness.io

    Thank you for your time.

      1. 2

        Hey Pips,
I'm having a hard time finding the words to express how great it is to get such comments from a professional designer. I've spend the last 2 years learning design and the rest of the stack required to make JustFitness.io. Validation from an expert such as yourself has really given me the confidence boost I needed. I've spent a lot of long nights iterating over everything and I must have done so at least a dozen times to get to this point. Even at launch, I still wasn't sure if I made the right decisions.

Thanks for telling me that it was all worth it. This really made my night.
I'll implement the suggestions for sure.

        1. 2

          My pleasure! :) :)

  15. 1

    Hey mate!

My website is very similar to yours!

It automatically creates an company analysis page:

Here's an example of one of your big competitors:
    https://reviewbolt.com/r/balsamiq.com

I've been focusing on UX a lot so would really appreciate your thoughts.

    1. 1

Balsamiq is a really different product to ours-- Balsamiq is a wireframing tool whereas we help companies/freelancers/agencies collect visual feedback. Maybe I didn't make our messaging clear enough though - I'm releasing a new landing page this week to hopefully help with that!

      Here's your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/kHejQCSn1Zt8eBMnWTeDDE/p

Lots of information on that page so it's not an easy job, but you've done really well with most of it!

      1. 1

Thanks for taking the time pips!

So many people with lovely UIs today!

I'm no designer, so go easy on all the UI/UX failures! I needed a place for my films, in the process of a full refresh, but I can't quite get the film cards right and I can't find any similar designs for inspiration. Would love a tip or two!

      Hey @frankspinnl, here's your feedback: https://app.usebolt.io/board/i81MW29ootUotLcBFuaPeq/p

Not a lot to add - it's a really clear page in my opinion. Clear CTA, clean layout and good copy. A few ideas but you've done a fantastic job!

      1. 1

        Hi Pips,

Thank you, some good points! Implementing them next week.
