Ok... Customer Service - how do you deal with it?

It's one of the most important parts of your online product/service, how do you deal with it? Please share your experience with all indie hackers, probably you've already found the really well working solution.. I would suggest your answer in that format:

  1. How I deal with it (do it by myself / using external company service / some AI based solution / whatever else). What's the price?
  2. How long are you doing it like this?
  3. How many (aproximately) paying customers you have?
  4. Are you happy with the current approach? If NOT - did you try to find / use alternatives?

Thank you

  1. 1
    1. Do it yourself, at least in the beginning. You have to handle all the complaints and suggestions to understand what is important. If you have someone else doing it you will miss on a huge opportunity of gaining trust and improving your product.
    2. I am still doing for a business that is a couple of years old and brings enough revenue to pay someone else. I can't be sure about it but I believe that AJ of carrd (4 million views and 30k/month) is still doing it himself. If your value proposition and FAQs are clear and you have extensive documentation to solve doubts, you won't get many emails from customers.
    3. 200 (it's a B2B)
    4. I'm happy with this approach but I have to say that I never tried alternatives. I built my business so that I could focus exclusively on marketing and customer service, which I believe are (with the product) the most important things you can focus on. And the quality of your product highly depends on your customers' feedback.
