On getting lucky

Nice read but one could debate with any of your points. Success is not that easy and luck is complex (it's more about probs and stastistic), to your key points:

Work hard towards your goal

Wrong. Hard work never correlates to success. Val, cmon let's work hard and open a pizza place in a street with 10 other restaurants! We would work like crazy but with little success.

It's always more about WHAT you work on not working hard. Then, you should fire yourself asap from anything and find people => that's the only way to scale. So, only if you are lazy and stay lazy success might come.
Second thing: goals are utterly wrong, they always mislead. read Scott Adams on this. He says goals are for losers.

Keep a journal and stay focused
For what a journal? People do this because they love to write but it's nonsense. Success is what counts not a list of random stuff I did the last days. Should people keep a journal that they wanked three times a day and brainstormed crappy ideas with you? Stay focused yes, good advise.

Adjust your sails constantly
Good but is the opposite of your last point

Exhibit a positive attitude, because alertness depends on this

Don’t quit, but rest when needed
Don't quit is super wrong, quit as much as possible. Don't quit is an advise for employees who must stay 2yrs at a job to stay employable. Learning to quit it key, learning to not fall in love with a crappy product, idea but moving on and trying the next thing is key.
