Once you get into that routine of working really hard to make a lot of money, you forget how to live...

"We realized we couldn't continue like this. I was away at a developer conference and my wife was at home tending the kids. It was not an easy conversation, but it was a good conversation. Because I currently do three things — I am a founder of two side businesses and I'm an employee. It is no way to live. I didn't see my kids. I didn't see my wife. It started with wanting more money. The problem is that once you get into that routine of working really hard to make a lot of money, you forget how to live. You work harder and harder to get bigger and bigger clients and, after a couple of years, you only know how to work and produce and write code and manage your business or whatever. It snowballs and it's really hard to stop. It got me into a never-ending, nonstop life that I'm now trying to escape. It's basically like being a heroin user and going to rehab. So that's the phase that I'm at now. Rehab. I'm in the process of winding down the employee job which took most of my time. I'm starting to see the colors again and enjoy not working. I really enjoy spending time with things that are not computers. I noticed again how much I like being around my family and playing with my kids. I'm learning how to be a family man again. It's nice to see your kids do crazy shit. To see them evolve. To see them learn things. So, I'm trying to take things more slowly and enjoy what I have instead of chasing the next big thing. And I'm realizing that you don't have to work yourself to death to make a living."⠀
