Once you narrow your target market, how do you find leads?

I have narrowed down my target buyer (Head of Marketing at Series A/B funded startups that sell to software developers) and now I want to start building a lead list. What’s the best way to find leads so I can start an outreach campaign?

Options I’ve thought about, but not yet explored:

  • Hiring a freelancer on Upwork
  • Combing Crunchbase, Linkedin, etc. myself (I've got more money than time right now, so I'd prefer not to do this)
  • Some kind of productized service maybe?

What have you tried?

Old thread but this exact ICP (funded startups) is what I ended up solving for myself. Combing Crunchbase/LinkedIn manually doesn't scale and Crunchbase Pro is pricey for a solo/small team. I built a small tool on top of SEC Form D filings (public, free — every private raise over $250k has to be disclosed there within 15 days) that turns it into a daily list of just-funded companies: https://fundingsignals.net/?utm_source=indiehackers&utm_medium=comment&utm_campaign=leads-thread. Free tier exists if you just want to see the shape of the data before committing to anything paid.
