One Year on Twitter: My 12 Tips That Work Well for Promotion

Today marks exactly one year since I started using Twitter

During this time, I wrote 735 tweets.

I experimented with dozens of formats to find my style, understand what works and what doesn’t, and start growing in views and followers.

The goal was to get posts with over 100 views, not just 10-20, and to promote my brand and products.

Here’s what I tried:
– Let's Connect posts
– Posts with formatting and emojis
– Tagging companies and famous people
– Videos in posts
– Posts with images — experimenting with different styles and designs
– GIF posts
– Reposts of others' posts
– Posts created with ChatGPT
– Personal photos and videos
– Launch posts
– Questions
– Replies with reposts
– Tips and polls
– Short posts
– Long posts
– Copying recently viral posts
– Posting 5 times a day
– One post every day
– Posting at different times of the day
– Memes

But nothing worked — my posts would get a maximum of 30 views, and my followers weren’t growing.

I even thought my account might be shadowbanned and considered starting a new one to try again. I doubted if Twitter was right for me or if my content was interesting at all, but I kept pushing forward and experimenting.

The most important thing is if there are no results, you need to change your approach ❗️

I found what works for me.

Here's my strategy:

– Follow people in your field and turn on notifications. As soon as they post, leave a comment to be among the first and maximize reach. But don’t just say “Good luck!” — write a genuinely useful and detailed comment, tip, or recommendation that sparks discussion, likes, and profile visits.

– Every day, I look for interesting posts related to my topic and comment on them. The post should be no older than 10-12 hours.

– My posting time is 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Bangkok time, which is morning in the U.S. — a high-activity period on X.

– Posts should include numbers and data. This grabs attention and interest, even if it’s something like “10 new users” or “a dollar earned.”

– Keep images simple — make them clear and highlight key points.

– Personal photos and videos with real emotions work well.

– Checklists go viral easily and users save them to bookmarks.

– Wrap the main point of your post in the first sentence, then explain it in detail.
Format the text to make it easy to read and visually clear.

– Repost a recently published post from someone else that has viral potential. This way, you gain views and improve your stats, increasing your chances of appearing in feeds and searches.

– Update and improve your profile page. Change your photo and cover, experiment. Always include links to your projects. When people visit your profile, they’ll click on them. This is free traffic/users/clients, and it works great. Consistency is key, so keep working on it.

– Don’t put links in your posts. X treats links in tweets as spam and doesn’t rank them well. You can use tricks like “My project gone(.)domains” or include the link in your profile, so users interested in your comment will visit your profile.
