onewordthentwo (1WT2) - language learning community / mastermind
How do you learn to read, write, or speak another language? Like other skills we are learning here on Indie Hackers, it's by putting the work in, being patient, dedicated, and nailing the basics.
One word, then two...
Introducing 1WT2, a resource site + premium Slack community that mirrors the NomadList model, but for Language Learning. I would value your suggestions or initial feedback.
Initial thoughts on value prop and features:
- Belonging to a community keeps interest + motivation, and can be a massive boost to progress.
- This space is lacking - There are micro-communities for some apps, Duolingo Forums as one example, but nothing modern or all-encompassing. Slack would make it possible for bots / services to keep discussion going, launch events, provide updates from social media, etc.
- "Get Fluent Quickly" premium courses have terrible reputations as being snake oil salesmen, whereas 1WT2 would be an open community, less "salesy".
- Social aspect provides outlet to meet people, trade tips, tricks, techniques, resource recommendations -- all of which can flow back into the free resources/blog posts portion for authority & link building.
