Online marketplace for Farmers

We all know that due to COVID pandemic it affects majority of the businesses including production of farm products. In support to local farmers I have created my online marketplace web app with basic chat functionality. I did also use Facebook ads to market my app but still not getting any new user. I have joined private/public Farmers community on Facebook to observe the inefficiency and I have addressed those too in my app and for the record, farmers are active posting their products in bulk.

Since most of the target are in this social platform. How can I gain users without knocking all public/private group community on Facebook? Did I miss something?

    Hello Eljay,

I'm not sure about exact functionality of your app, but I'm guessing it provides a way for people to order food from farmers. Is that right?

If so, that's an idea I've explored a little before. Looking at some players in the field, talking to people who source food from farms, and going to farmers' market, I made the following conclusions:

    • farmers' markets are more about the experience of a community event than the utility of getting groceries
    • variety and quantity of good provided by local farms is limited
    • many popular fruits and vegetables are sourced from countries with cheaper labor, so local farms don't grow these
    • some farmers feel they are too small to deal with a delivery service/online sales
    • most services provide a subscription service where you get a box of produce, but not necessary any specific goods

Local farms as an occasional supplement could work, but not as a main source.

I hope that was useful. Happy to discuss more.
