Open-source app turns any YouTube video into a drinking game

So I just released BoozeTube, an app that let's you turn any youtube video into a (drinking) game: https://boozetube.netlify.app

I've also open-sourced it so you can see how I built it using React, Node, Prisma, Postgres, and the YouTube API: https://github.com/vincanger/boozeTube

My idea here is to use prominent youTubers as examples, along with open-sourcing it, to gain traffic. If it successfully generates enough views, I would ideally sell ad space.

What do you all think?

Haha. That's a great idea! I`ll definitely try it with my friends.

It's a shame that for some music videos like Daft Punk's Technologic, YouTube doesn't provide captions 🤷‍♂️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8K90hX4PrE

Cool stuff Vince! Always a pleasure to see you deliver.

      thank you, sir 🙏

I can't wait to watch the YouTuber's making react videos to BoozeTube.

Then YouTuber's will react to people playing the drinking game.

Then they'll react to the reaction videos of YouTuber's watching other YouTuber's play the drinking game with the URL's of the react videos of the react videos.

haha oh never thought of that. Perhaps I should contact some youtubers. Know of any?

I know a couple of people that have YouTube channels, but they are tiny and not doing those kinds of react videos.

YouTuber's do tend to read their comments though. There might be a path to get their attention by commenting under their recent videos.

I had a project years ago and all I ever did to drive traffic to it was answer questions on Stack Overflow. The key though is to genuinely help people. I answered every question in full, and casually mention my project in the answer. It worked surprisingly well.

Same thing with YouTube comments I would guess. If you're genuinely watching their videos and making a funny comment under it, you might be able to slide in the idea that they can try BoozeTube. Don't post a link though, YouTube doesn't like that. Let them do the work to find it.
