Open Source-ish Alternative for Crunchbase?

What is the best ( preferably free ) to Crunchbase?
What I am looking for is mostly basic information about companies ( founders and sectors of functioning ) and details of their funding rounds.

If there is no alternative to this, is anybody interested in making a lightweight open-source alternative to this? I already have data for around 11K companies that I have been collecting over the past year. Would love to have something that could show simple information without forcing any sort of subscription at me.

Alternatively, you can get good data from Parsers VC. Their data is cheaper + updated every day. https://parsers.vc/dashboard/

This was part of my motivation for creating https://corepo.org/ why not have a look and then let me know if this is what you need or ask for a feature request.

This is super valuable, but also hard. I think you should do it. How would you sustain yourself? Usually other places will pay for data access to this. Like PE, VC firms.

Since it's about hosting csv files, I believe the charges could be covered using community donations or minor ads.

There's also keeping up with news, funding rounds, etc. I don't think infrastructure is the expensive part of the equation. It's the labor.

Being a student I have lots of time for this. When Initially creating a database of fundings, I used a simple webscraper that informed me about published articles talking about funding figures and then I used to note em down. Other than stealing data directly from crunchbase, the only viable option I see is that a few moderators, in-charge of their particular sectors, help keep the site updated.
