Opinion: Indies should stop abusing the title 'CEO'
CEO is a coveted term used to represent the top leader in an organization / company.
In the absence of an organization/company, the CEO title is meaningless.
Every now and then I come across profiles proudly boasting the CEO title without a base supporting it, essentially diluting its essence, while also conveying a sense of deception and insincerity. It's just immature.
Indies should refrain from using the title. Alternatives may be, Indie developer, Freelance builder, or even Founder is okay. Suggestions and POVs welcome.
100% agree. In the past I used this CEO title myself as well. But after thinking about if this was appropriate while running a company with only 10 people I understood this title was not at all correct.
Right now my title on LinkedIn is Entrepreneur & Investor which is more appropriate for what I currently do.
