Ottehr: Our open-source electronic health record (EHR)

With over a decade of experience in health-tech software development, our team at MassLight transitioned from startups to integrating with EHRs as the startups were acquired, and finally to fielding requests from large clinical organizations to replace their EHRs entirely.

Faced with the challenges of lengthy projects in the medical field, we created Oystehr to streamline custom EHR development, reducing time-to-market by 40%. Yet, a dilemma emerged during a partnership with a pediatric urgent care provider, leading to the creation of Ottehr, an open-source EHR designed for developers-first.

Ottehr exists mainly to be forked and modified. Currently serving as a HIPAA-compliant telemed platform, Ottehr aims to evolve into a comprehensive EHR, with a feature-complete release by June '24. Monthly releases and an open-source community emphasize collaborative development. If interested, explore our roadmap and contribute through pull requests to help shape the future of Ottehr.
