I'm in the same space with https://versoly.com/

How does this compete vs Squarespace?

It looks like a tool for devs?

      Hey, hi volkandkaya,
I love your product BTW! We need more of these types of tools!

The way I look at it, there is no practical way you can make a website today without resorting to either CLIs or online solutions like Squarespace or yours.

That is the void we fill.

Online website builders are not for everybody. If you need something custom added, most of the time, it is hard to make it work. Your files are hosted in their cloud. If you run into issues you have to deal with their customer service. They are also slow compared to your file system.

Online website builders have other features that make them great, depending of what is your user and use case.

Wish you the best of luck with versoly, your product looks very solid!

        Thanks!

So what issue are you solving?

        1. 1

You cannot build a website with CSS+HTML only, at some point you need templates/building blocks. Kit55 solves that, providing a fast build on the file system without CLI's complications.

Ohh nice one. I’ve considered building a static site generator with a GUI a few times - glad you did it so I don’t have to!

    Noted:
“It is free for non professional use.”

So we can’t use it for our own products?

Lol, yeah, we basically made it out of spite for not finding something like this in the market for ourselves, basically scratching our own itch.

There is a free/demo version for evaluation and non-professional use. If the product is used professionally then a license is required (similar model to other products like Sublime Text editor or Postman).

    Hi friends,

We’ve recently released our new app - Kit55. We posted it to HN a few days ago, where we've got a ton of feedback, and we plan to launch it in some other popular sites like ProductHunt very soon.

Kit55 is a Web Builder GUI. A very easy to use, super fast desktop app that will compile your html templates for you. It greatly simplifies the life of web developers.

The GUI builds pages assembling HTML templates (building blocks). You use your own editor to work on your files. Kit55 will detect changes and recompile complete pages using your building blocks. You can keep a browser open and Kit55 will update your pages in your browser as well.

You’re welcome to read more about us here, go to our quick-start page, or just go ahead and try it out.

You also can read here about why Kit55 is a great alternative for certain users and use cases to online website builders like Wix and Squarespace or CLI tools like Jekyll, next, hugo, etc, or even as an alternative for WordPress.

We’re very excited to launch, and we would love to get some feedback from the IH community.
