Our app just launched on ProductHunt!

Hello indies,

We just launched our app timing.is on ProductHunt ...

It's been a wild ride of a year, working across an 8hr time difference and at least a half-dozen redesigns of our main navigation to get to where we are today.

We're really excited to have hit this milestone and are looking forward to building a best-in-class indie app for years to come.

If you're interested in learning more (and possibly supporting us with an upvote) please visit our listing page here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/timing-is

Seems like we've finally cracked top 10, but there's half the day remaining so we're hoping to end up there with your support.

Cheers!

cool site design, I drove the cursor on the screen for 15 minutes so the second circle did not catch up with my point)))

Congratulations on your launch, we were launching Seodity few weeks ago on ProductHunt and I know how difficult it could be to prepare everything for the launch :)
We've only made to 12th place though, hope your app will get higher :D

Good luck on your product! Just downloaded it and gave it a look. Looks like you already have 190 upvotes on Producthunt! Way cool :)

I don't know if you want unsolicited feedback or if you already have a user group that's doing testing, but assuming you're ok with feedback I'd say.

The UI is really beautiful and I enjoyed looking at all of the screens! The intro in the beginning was a nice overview of what the app could do but once I was actually given control of my screen, I feel like I was just handed a Swiss army knife. I knew what I could basically do with the app, but it felt like I had an overwhelming amount of options. The feeling of overwhelmness ended up taking away from my experience with the app and since I couldn't figure out right away what every little button and option meant, I ended up feeling a little too overwhelmed to try to figure it all out and closed out of the app.

If I had a little more hand holding or if you decided to go with more of a "progressive disclosure" approach where overtime, I discover more options to me, that would be cool.

All in all, this feels a lot like todoist (which is my go-to todo taking app) - there's a thousands calendars out there, but yours seem to do a lot of things right that other calendars don't :) You must be proud of your launch and all the hard work put into it.

Good luck to you! You got this.

Thank you so much for the kind words and the feedback. Super helpful to hear about your impressions post-onboarding. As I'm sure you know, getting users to that aha-moment in the very first session is crucial and we've been iterating a lot on our app's navigation and onboarding for exactly this reason (and I'm sure have ways to go still). The progressive disclosure is definitely something we will try and it should yield good results, but it is true, we have a swiss-army knife to explain :)

Farid’s co-founder here. @n8thegr8 I wanted to re-iterate Farid’s gratitude. I loved reading your perspective, and totally understand where you are coming from. Your recommendations make sense and are actually on the roadmap. We recently prioritised refreshing the initial onboarding, before looking at improvements we can make post-onboarding when you’re landed in the app. Really happy to read you felt in the know after the onboarding at least, because we were quite intentional in how can we describe what the product is as well as how it works in tandem.

One last thing in terms of the Swiss Army knife analogy. Again, it’s nice to read this comparison because it indicates there’s an immediate awareness that the product has depth. And, just to be clear, we felt in order to be a viable alternative to existing rich options, we had to offer a complete experience. There’s a lot of table stakes missing still, but the end-to-end story should hopefully make sense. But yes, regardless of how well executed the initial onboarding is, when you’ve just been handed a Swiss Army knife, your training should continue for a meaningful period of time. And, help should always be available whenever. Neither of these things are true today, but we’ll get there.

Thank you again, and all the best on your fresh indie adventures!
