Hey Indie Hackers! 👋
I wanted to share a bit of our journey launching Dashbreeze on Product Hunt yesterday. As bootstrapped founders, this was our very first Product Hunt experience. To be honest, we went into it feeling like underdogs. With no big following, no VC funding, and just us working behind the scenes, we knew we were going up against some huge, well-funded startups. Our expectations were low. Honestly, we didn’t even think we’d get featured.
We prepared for the launch by setting up our Product Hunt page three weeks in advance, creating a pre-launch page, and sharing it in a few Reddit, WhatsApp, and Telegram groups. From this, we gathered about 16 interested people who helped us get the ball rolling.
We chose a mid-week launch, knowing we probably wouldn’t land in the top spot, but hoping it would bring us more traffic and real users—even if we weren’t featured. And to our surprise, it worked! Dashbreeze got featured and ended up as 7th in the day rank, with 141 upvotes, 547 unique visitors to our site, and 70 new users in just one day. These numbers were huge for us!
There were even moments when we reached 5th place—honestly, we were in shock! 😲
The Product Hunt community showed us that even without a massive following or marketing budget, a good product can still stand out. To any other bootstrapped founders thinking about launching on PH, I’d say: go for it. You don’t need thousands of followers or a big budget. If you believe in what you’re building, amazing things can happen.
Thanks for reading, and I’m happy to share more about the process if anyone’s interested! Just DM on Twitter/X (@RaspantiGuta) 💙
