Outsourcing Web Development: What I’d Do Differently Now

Outsourcing can either:

  • Accelerate you by 6 months
    or
  • Drain budget + create tech debt

A few lessons I’ve learned:

  • Never outsource without a clearly written scope
  • Don’t optimize for cheapest — optimize for clarity
  • Weekly demos > long silent sprints
  • Ownership of code & documentation matters more than price
  • Communication style is everything

Outsourcing works — but only with structure.

I put together a deeper breakdown of how to approach it without losing control of your product:

Curious — have you had better luck with freelancers, agencies, or in-house?
