I launched BuildersBoard in mid-December – a curated job board for generalists, ex-founders, and 0→1 builders.
The timing wasn’t ideal (holidays = dead period, lost momentum), but it was still enough to get some early signal on what actually works vs. what I only thought would work. Sharing in case it helps someone else.
Indie Hackers post
Posting here worked great. A few likes and comments kept the post visible on the main page for a couple of days, which drove first steady traffic.
Making it public on Lovable
I built BuildersBoard in Lovable and later tweaked it in Cursor. When Lovable launched public profiles and project sharing, I jumped on it immediately. That alone brought ~500 visits in a single weekend, which felt huge for such an early-stage project.
Direct outreach & founder conversations
I’m in a few Slack groups. Between that and LinkedIn’s and X's algorithm slowly learning what I care about, I started seeing interesting early-stage / founder-type roles and relatd content.
I reached out directly to a few people behind those roles, which sparked real conversations – and I noticed an uptick in direct traffic afterward.
X / Twitter distribution
Traffic from X was low. Not shocking — my follower base is small (feel free to help fix that 😅 https://x.com/teddyberzatto)
Even with more posts and better tagging like #buildinpublic, it didn’t really move the needle. Clear lesson: distribution > posting more.
JobBoardSearch portal
This is a database of niche job boards, so I expected at least some traffic. On the free tier, though:
approval took ~1 month
it drove basically no traffic
I might test the paid version later, but for now it wasn’t worth the effort.
Retention
The flow was basically: land → browse → leave → forget.
Adding more roles alone didn’t fix that. There was no reason for people to come back
That’s why I’m launching a newsletter – partly to stay in touch, but also to share signals around high-agency work and how roles are changing, something I’m already spending time reading and thinking about.
If you’re looking for founder-type roles, 0→1 opportunities, or you’re curious how builder-style work is evolving.
👉 subscribe to the Builders Report newsletter https://buildersboard.work/builders-report
That’s where the best roles will show up first.
Next focus:
Make the newsletter the way BuildersBoard delivers value
Spend more time in Slack groups & Reddit, less on broad platforms
Work on GEO – I’m already seeing some traffic from Perplexity, so I’m trying to learn how to increase visibility for LLMs (even though I’m definitely not a marketer)
Still early. Still learning. Still building. 🏗️
