PageSpeed tool I created months ago - wdym?

Good evening,
I just took a look into my "coding projects" folder and found something I guess I still could release. When I remember correctly it didn’t got released since the domain I want to have for it was already taken (I’m a bit strange in this domain game thingy :D) and… yeah, then I had something different to do or so. The domain is still taken and I placed a bid again, but no response. Whatever.

Long story short:
It’s mostly a prototype for a „PageSpeed observer/reporter“. Since a lot of pages are having a lot or sometimes hundreds of landing pages (e.g. the company I work for) it’s a hard part to keep an eye of all of these PageSpeed’s. Additionally PageSpeed is still a big factor for Googles ranking, so to say.

What I’ve build back then was a pretty straight-forward dashboard where a user was able to add his projects (1 project = 1 domain) and add the pages, which needs to be tracked, manually or via CSV-import (which is not done yet).

A page can have a specific strategy (since I’m using Google’s PageSpeed API where you can go for desktop or mobile only) - so if it’s not a responsive page you could say: please check this page as a mobile page only, since it’s mobile optimized. The user could also set a general threshold - so if PageSpeed would fall below the threshold’s value I would automatically notify the user (and other recipients the user is able to define) via supported channels (like Slack or E-Mail).
That’s pretty much it.

I recently noticed that this is still a pain in my daily job company and I thought about re-starting the development on this project. Not a monetized project in the first place, because every data I’m pulling is publicly available via Google too. But I’m also unsure about how to monetize it later on. I thought about creating this as a nice „SEO“-supporting-tool which could bring me some new contacts, knowledge and insights for my personal growth.

What I also had in mind was building a „big audience“ by releasing it as a service for free for users/company’s who takes care of it’s own Google ranking and after having some users maybe thinking about leasing ad-places on the page or creating sponsored newsletters. I guess that could be interesting for some SEO agency’s.

What do you think about it? Is that something you would use? Or is the „consume an API and make a pretty report out of it in a scheduled task“ a bit too simple that anyone would use it - also if it would be for free?

Best regards from Berlin,
Vincent
