Paid Only Newsletters (no freemium)

In the next month, I am launching a paid-only (no freemium) subscription newsletter for a very specific niche. I have calculated that I will need only 85 subscribers to make a living. Crazy right?

I have worked and specialized in this specific industry so my guess is it shouldn't be that hard to get 85? Who knows.. It might be incredibly hard. We will see.

Here are some examples of paid only newsletters below:

What are your thoughts on paid-only newsletters and can you find any other examples?

If you run a paid newsletter (not on Substack) I would love to subscribe!

If you have an existing audience (big following on Twitter or LinkedIn for example) then going all in on paid is more do-able. You can use these channels to share snippets of your latest paid content and start converting some of your existing followers into paid subscribers.

One other thing to consider on the freemium front is that you don't necessarily need to run an entire free newsletter. You could also publish a few strategic blog posts for free to rank in Google or distribute in other ways to get more attention on your work, and then promote your premium offering.

Great insight. I am still looking into freemium but I think for now I will focus all my attention on just a premium offering.

        Good luck!
If you don't already have a website/stack in mind I'd recommend doing some research to make sure you find a platform that will grow with your needs, and where you retain full ownership of your business data. Especially since you're going in with paid from the get-go.

Hi there there are plenty of other paid-only newsletters:

In regards to your own idea, have you validated your niche to see if there are interest / people willing to pay for it?

Thanks for the links. Yes, I have validated my niche! I took some work though. After months of trying different newsletter ideas, I come across my current one which seems to be a need for most professionals.
