I thought this was interesting as we can often fall into the trap of going for the highest traffic and most common keywords, but if we can focus in on the pain points that our potential customers have we may be able to convert more customers.

Also, in theory, if we've done our research as indie hackers we 'should' now what the pain points are.

Have been following Benji's work for a while now. Here's a video where he takes Yoti through a whole review of their content using this approach. I think it's a pretty useful demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOcimEWEJb8

P.S. We liked this approach so much that we set up a survey template using the questions laid out in this article

Thanks for posting, makes a lot of sense.

Great read. Interesting being in the position of running Indie Hackers, where so many people here are running SaaS businesses, but IH itself is really more of a media site (social media?), so I end up caring about pageviews rather than conversion to purchasing sort of product. That said, it's very hard to "convert" a Google searcher who lands on a forum post or interview into a regular reader. Intent still matters.

In my experience, the best tactic for a media site like IH that wants to convert a random Google visitor into a regular reader is trying to get their email address before they leave and never come back.

Have you thought of creating some attractive lead magnets and landing pages for such conversions?
