Pairing Founders and Tech guys
This place is a unique combination of Non tech founders and Super-tech geeks. Very few have both the skills. I am a Tech guy with zero founder genes; I tried. However, I would love to work for a founder to implement his/her idea.
I am pretty sure there would be other people like me here. If you are a non-tech founder looking for a tech person, or a tech person looking to work for a founder, please leave a comment so we all can interact with each other.
I too am a tech geek with very few founder gene.. So I build findamaker.io - a job board exclusively for side project. I just put it online an hour ago !
Super-tech geeks
The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast or a person obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit, with a general pejorative meaning of a "peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, boring, or socially awkward".[1]
Exactly what I want to be called.
I reject the premise.
Technical skills are mostly orthogonal to having an entrepreneurial drive, or other business skills. People can learn new skills.
I started out as a non-technical founder (two different businesses, one for one year, one for four) and then became a "tech person" because I saw how much that skill could have helped my previous business.
Some people are better at tech and worse at business than I am and some are better at business and worse at tech. Others are better at both and still others are worse at both. Knowing someone is a founder tells you very little about their tech skills and knowing that someone has tech skills tells very little about their entrepreneurial ambitions. However, if I had to put money on it, I'd bet that there's a small positive correlation, not a negative one.
I know it's totally not what you asked for, but I bet you CAN become a good founder! It's just a matter of adding skills you need.
