Palettt – Super smart color palette generator for designers and developers

I built Palettt because I was frustrated with how limited and repetitive most color palette tools felt. As a developer and designer, I wanted a smarter, faster, and more creative way to generate beautiful color palettes, something that didn’t just rely on random colors but understood harmony, mood, and contrast.

Palettt is a color generation platform that helps you:

  • Generate palettes algorithmically using HSL harmony rules (not just random hexes)

  • Lock colors you like, and let the app build matching ones automatically

  • Upload images to extract aesthetic color palettes

  • AI-powered suggestions (e.g., “calm”, “vintage”, “neon”)

  • Save, explore, and export palettes to CSS, Tailwind, SCSS, or PNG

  • Browse a public gallery of palettes from other creators

  • Visualize your palettes with real life designs.

I built this using Next.js, Prisma, Tailwind, and a custom color engine I wrote from scratch. The goal is to make Palettt not just a color picker, but a color creativity tool for both designers and developers.

I’d love feedback from the Indie Hackers community, what features do you think would make it even more useful or unique?
