I'm in the market for a password manager.
It might be for person and team use.
I would like it to be mobile but also on my pc and mac. But I don't know if I trust a 3rd party knowing my passwords.
Here are the ones i've looked into.
Lastpass
1password
dashlane
keypass
I've used 1Password previously, but found Bitwarden met my needs and is free :)
I use 1 password too. Have you found anything missing with Bitwarden that you liked in 1PW? How is it’s Mac/iOS integration compared to 1PW?
I'm pretty basic with my requirements, just keeping track of passwords for client sites, and generating new ones. I use a combination of their browser extension and native Mac app, and haven't missed any feature from 1PW. I haven't tried the iOS app yet. Importing my existing passwords from 1PW was pretty painless, although I did need to edit the exported 1PW file due to an extremely long note item that Bitwarden couldn't import.
Looks promising, do you host it yourself too?
Hi Matt, I use their cloud service instead of hosting it myself
I am using free LastPass. You can disable autofill (it will add your login and password on request), so you do not need to worry about auto capture attack. As far as I know only major password manager (free) that offers this.
Now you can start using Pcrypt.com Its reviewed by one of the best security institutions in Denmark. So you actually have a 3rd part review of the system before using it.
Lastpass for web passwords
KeePass for all passwords
I use Dashlane for more than 2 years (mac chrome extension, mac app and iOS app) and I really like it. It does exactly what it should and I have my passwords always with me.
I'm using LastPass and this has been very beneficial as can then generate new secure passwords.
The only downside I have found is that if I use different sub-domains then the accounts can be crossed.
E.g. using chris@localhost on crm.localhost and support.localhost then it will only remember one of these accounts.
1password with Dropbox sync
LastPass. Never had a problem with it either 👍
