PatchCord - A service to bridge audio between Mumble and Discord

Hey Fellow Hackers,

Today I am announcing a small side project I have been working on https://patchcord.io.

Several friends and I have been using a Mumble server for years to game and hang out online. Even when Discord made it big, we still used Mumble because why not. When the pandemic hit, we tried to organize gaming sessions with larger groups of friends, and not everyone wanted to A) install Mumble B) install Discord. As a personal challenge, I thought it would be interesting to create an application to bridge the audio applications together. I released my working bot on Github (https://github.com/Stieneee/mumble-discord-bridge), and, to my surprise, I got a few contributors fixing bugs and adding features for their needs. It wasn't long before I got a few requests for help setting up and even one individual asking if they could pay for the service.

I have been working on Patchord.io on and off for a better part of the year. When I work on this project, I usually end up patching bugs or making small improvements to the open-source code.

I like the idea of offering a unique product. Will it get any sales? Your guess is as good as mine!

If it gets any traction, I will be back to share progress. If you have friends who enjoy open-source alternatives, please share. It might just be the thing they have been looking for.

Thanks for reading. Happy Hacking!
