Payment platform handling VAT?

When I started 11 years ago, afaik, Fastspring was the only one to act as a reseller and totally handle the whole EU VAT nightmare.
This is very valuable, but their fees are high (5.9% + $0.95).
Does anyone use and recommend an alternative that offers the same service but with lower fees? Bonus point if managing affiliates is directly integrated within the platform.
