Gurwinder Singh, an 18-year-old from Punjab, India, taught himself coding using only a mobile phone.
Inspired by Elon Musk’s story, he started coding basic web apps in ninth grade, despite limited resources and personal struggles. Battling depression and academic challenges, Gurwinder reignited his passion in eleventh grade, mastering web-scraping and the MERN stack.
By early 2025, he launched ThreadSnatch, a media-scraping API for Meta Threads, achieving rapid traction through consistent engagement on X (formerly Twitter).
His business model offers free access up to 5,000 API calls monthly, with plans for data-driven paid tiers.
Despite not owning a personal computer, Gurwinder continues to build and scale his product, proving that persistence and obsession can triumph over limited means.
