"We’d generally recommend companies at this time try to have a runway for at least 18-24 months, and avoid trying to fundraise until 2024." - Wow, so there really is little hope for founders looking to raise at the moment then...I knew it was a lengthy process anyway, but 2 years?!
Great for bootstrapped founders who can get a product-market fit fast enough and won't need funding.
Cries always end - this is a good one. Economic downturns aren't new...every time we experience one we behave as if we've never faced a similar situation before. I get that we can't always adapt in the same way as we have in the past because technology/consumer behavior/social norms change - but surely it's not as catastrophic as everyone's making it out to be. Like he says, many of the most successful technology companies (Airbnb, Uber, WhatsApp, etc) have started during periods of market uncertainty.
Agreed - and this is super tied to what he says about psychology too. You can't innovate and move a business forward with a team (or your own mindset) that's complaining and negative all the time. It's just not a productive use of energy.
