pgAssistant - an AI Assistant for writing SQL in pgAdmin ⚡

Hello!

I’ve just built pgAssistant - an AI Assistant for writing SQL - plugin for pgAdmin SQL client (via Chrome extension).

Why I built this

I had the idea of building this when I learned about ChatGPT being very good at generating SQL queries from plain english prompts.

The downside of ChatGPT is not having context of your database schema (tables, relationships), which is needed for it to be able to provide accurate queries referencing your exact tables and columns.

pgAssistant brings an AI prompt into the widely used pgAdmin client, having context of your database schema and providing a more seamless integration with the SQL editor - no need to switch tabs or change context.

Next steps

I just launched a free beta version, my goal is to get this into the hands of as many pgAdmin users as possible and learn if they find it valuable.

I also added an Early Bird Pro price to learn if this is very valuable to someone to the point that they would pay for it.

If that’s the case, I would add in the future a combination of free limited usage + paid version.

Are you a user of pgAdmin? Would this be useful to you?

I’d love to hear about it 🙏  and provide extended free usage in exchange for valuable user feedback.

Thank you! 🙇‍♂️
