I wish we could post photos (I get that it's not really the purpose of IH). I'd love to ask people for pics of where they work on their project along with what works, what doesn't, and why.
You can post photos in discussion posts after you have 10 points, though it's not possible to add them in comments atm.
Ah! Thanks. This is the second time recently where I've wished for a feature only to learn it exists (first time it was a paid feature, this time it's points). I think tech is not doing a great job of "upselling". Showing a all the features with a dollar sign or, in IH case an exclamation or #10, tells people what they want is available.
Mostly what happens when we enable pictures for everyone is people just start plastering up gratuitous ads/sales/deals for their products.
Although, to be fair, the last time I tried it, I had more of a social feed look to the site, so it was egregious, because all the images were visible from the homepage. I've since reverted to more of a forum feel, so at least the images would only be visible once you click into a post.
Thanks Courtland! I would anticipate ads would happen (bots and the people who build them are horrible). In my reply to @rosiesherry I said this is the second time in a week I've wished for a feature that was available (paid or points). I think we (and I'm certainly included) are not great in tech of "upselling" and showing features that are not available. The idea has always been to not crowd the UI, which makes sense. With the post input/button a greyed out, disabled button to add images with an alert "you can add images once you have 10+ points" would communicate to the user that eventually they will have the option.
The other case of wishing for a feature was Zoho Chat, which I use my startups site for customer chat. I asked for a feature to schedule when it shows me as online so I can set it to turn off at night when I'm asleep. It turns out that is available in the paid version but I'm using the free until I have revenue. If Zoho had showed a greyed out option 1.) I wouldn't have taken up customer service time, and 2.) it might convince me to pay sooner if I really want that feature.
Long reply all just to say thank you for your reply...
