Physical Address for Email Campaigns?

Hey all, I'm a noob to email marketing... and bootstrapping in general. I was building an email campaign on mailchimp when I realized I needed a physical address to be able to send it.

This confused me as I am always seeing the advice to build a mailing list before launching your product. How is it possible to build a mailing list when your business doesn't have a physical location? I see there are services that let you use a virtual address, but the monthly payments seem pretty steep to me.

Thanks in advance for the help!

This is to be in compliance with Anti Spam laws and is a requirement (at least in US and Europe). My advice is based on my experience in the US. What you could do is use a PO box with a "number" like this:

    555 st #1234
    city, state, zip

There's a form you need to fill out for this, can't find it off the top of my head, but it exists and is one way to set up a physical address for a usually low yearly fee.

This way you don't have "PO Box" in the address and it's all above board.

    YMMV.
