PitchBook is too expensive for indies, so we built a scraper to unlock the data

Hey hackers,

I wanted to share something that has blown up for us recently.

We all know that if you are trying to raise a seed round or do serious market research, the "good" data is usually locked behind massive enterprise paywalls (like PitchBook) that cost $20k+/year. For a bootstrapped founder or a small team, that is obviously a non-starter.

I run a small scraping shop and we realized this was a huge gap in the market. We built an actor specifically to unblock this data without the subscription overhead.

It allows you to pull:

  • AUM (Assets Under Management): Crucial so you don't waste time pitching "zombie" funds that have no dry powder.
  • Direct Contact Info: It scrapes emails/phones for partners and CFOs.
  • Specifics: You can filter by "Venture Capital" + "United States" + "SaaS" to build a targeted lead list in seconds.

It has quickly become our most used tool, which tells me there is a massive hunger for affordable investor intelligence.

If anyone is currently grinding through their fundraising lead lists manually, this might save you a few dozen hours.

Would love to hear if this helps you guys close any rounds, all feedback is welcome <3
