Planning to go to meetup to ask writers what they want in my product (good idea or no?)
I'm creating a text editor that saves every edit throughout the doc so writers may want to revert to a previous timeline. But, there's of course the likelihood that that's not what the users want. I'm wondering, is going to a meetup with hobbyist writers and asking their opinion (maybe bribing with a $5 startbucks gift card) a worthwhile idea? That way, I can try and get a sense what useful features might be.
Also, any strategies in finding a target audience. My original product might not be best suited to writers, but maybe towards lawyers or accountants. Would it also be best to try and find a group and meet them in person?

I agree with @AndrewKamphey. I definitely wouldn’t bring the $5 gift into it, it’ll change the psychology from social to market based. And read or at least research the mom test before hand. 👍

The Mom Test method will enable you not be pushy but rather curious.
Yes. Go do it. I met my first customer at a travel meetup when I was doing social media growth. I wouldnt give $5. Just find ppl that will tell you what problems they have. Then email them later with your product if you think it can help them.

A meetup is a meetup... i go to meet people not to dp 15 elevator pitches.
