    Hi Richard,

Since my startup is in a similar, but not competing, space and we are just now going for YC funding where you already have it, I watched the entire long demo. I have very detailed feedback all based on mistakes we repeatedly made so I hope this is useful to you.

    1. Decide on an ICP (ideal customer profile) and gear your site and demo to it. You list three - personal, influencers and business. If you are going after business usage of GMail then everything on your site and video should be exclusively about that use case. Same for influencers. If you want to host separate sites for each use case then fine but we used to have that and collapsed it because you can't really serve multiple masters.

    2. Invest in Google sign in authorization and show that instead of long form email verification. Its a required feature and not having it throws doubt right from the start of your video or funnel.

    3. The website and video highlight three features - a) what we call structured communication - the question and highlight answer stuff b) Unfurling URLs in a message. c) form submission from a default message. You should be faster about clearly explaining a) and b). Show a faster explanation of a). For b) provide a full list of what unfurls. c) is just casually shown in the video - either fully explain it or leave it out.

    4. Even at almost 13m the video leaves a lot unanswered. What does it look like when more than two people are in a conversation?

    5. If I'm looking to switch off of GMail I'm surely going to be aware of some alternatives like Slack and maybe even https://hey.com You might as well be up front about these alternatives and why Memo is better. Because we are in a similar space I imagine your answer is that Memo is more structured than the others and therefore you can get things done faster. However the verbiage of the site never makes that clear and instead mostly says vague things like "smarter".

BTW in no way am I claiming that we have these things figured out - accept for point 2 and maybe a bit of point 1 we are failing in all the same ways and that's what makes it easy to recognize for me.

First c2a got me to click but I hit 'back' the moment I saw I need to enter my email. Was probably hoping to see it in action right away (like start a conversation with myself and enter email once I am ready to invite others).

Don't really love this text: "Memo is a smarter way to communicate with your friends, fans and team." Smarter how? Maybe you should directly say how your app is different from the rest and I will decide for myself if it's smarter for me.

Don't like the demo video buttons. They look like file download buttons from a random site. Maybe you should go with something more conventional: increase size, put a triangle icon on top etc. I like the UI in general though, good job!

Thanks man, super helpful :-) "I will decide for myself if it's smarter for me." Yea, I like this approach.
