Please, Grill My Landing Page?

Hi,
My team has been through a bunch of iterations of our landing page design. Yesterday we released a new design that is supposed to focus less on graphics and more on the message we are trying to convey.

https://cogency.io

If any of you would be so kind to check it out and just give me your 2 cents on

  1. Do you understand the main message?
  2. What do you think about the design?
  3. Any other thoughts

Please be BRUTALLY honest and do not hold back!!!

Thank you!!!

It's not gonna end well but let's see.

Do you understand the main message?
    No.

What do you think about the design?
A little bit of spacing may work better, there is too much text above the fold.

    Any other thoughts
"run your business from one place with one service." this would work better as a headline.

"Unsubscribe from Asana, Zoom, Miro, Lucidchart, Jira, Trello, ClickUp, Monday, and Calendly."
This is way too bold without an explanation. Does Cogency offers every feature they offer or what, why like IDK. Or it says, we have kanban like trello, voice calls like zoom, date picker like calendly. Every useful bits from each of those services.

I couldn't come up with a scenario about how I'd land on this page. If I find this through searching google for "Asana alternatives". There is no explanation for it. Just unsubscribe them, why? because we have cookies? "Educate, grow and inspire" I don't do it on Asana, what's going on.

    "Grow Your Business Starting Today!"
I felt that it's more about managing rather than growing a business.

Anyways that's what a tired man would think when they land on this page. Hope there is something useful in it.

I appreciate your naked honesty!!! Exactly what I needed!!

  2. 2

My first thought was "how." I read your main header, but couldn't figure out how you would help with that by just quickly glancing around (which seems to be my instinct).

Your subheader "Save money and get one subscription for all your needs without the fuss. Unsubscribe from..." is much more informative for me. It tells me immediately that you're a replacement for these other things I already know.

A pretty hero image showing something about your app is usually the thing that gets me to scroll. Generally my next expectation is to see a few features with graphics.

Mockup images, and UI previews are what encourage me to then read your copy. If all I see is copy with a few icon my brain tells me that it just looks like work. lol

It's likely i'm now trained to explore a landing page this way, but you may not want to fight with user training and expectations. I may also be lazy, but I think that's ok as a user :)

Looks interesting , would be great ti maybe add a hero image to balance all the copy

It has already been said, but screenshots of the product would be nice! It makes it easier to understand what you’re trying to say about the product, making it even more obvious. Also, it looks like your header is covering some text? Overall, I though it looked good 🙂

    Hi Linda,

I like the minimal usage of color which enables the users to focus where color is used.

    Below is my feedback:

    1. Squint test (https://learnui.design/blog/squint-test-ui-design-case-study.html) is a popular UI design framework. When I apply that to your landing page, there is no hierarchy. It is unclear what the eye should focus on. Compare and contrast that with a well designed landing page like hubspot, asana etc.
    2. Typography / information hierarchy is not clear. What do you want the reader to read first and subsequently.
    3. Too much copy - make it crisp. Again look at well designed landing pages for inspiration
    4. Using a pre-built landing page template from wix or webflow etc might help as they would have thought through on the design, typography hierarchy aspects OR get inspired from some well designed landing pages of companies who are very good at marketing :)

First it's easy to understand about your main goal.
Second about Website just change into colourful like rainbow so it will look attractive.

The WHY message is partially clear for me. 1 tool would be easier because I don’t have to “switch”.

But to be honest, switching is not a problem for me. So what is the other benefit? Will I save money? Will I save time because of the switching? What is the advantage?

I also don’t know how the tool will increase my relationships, education, etc. The HOW message is not clear for me.

The WHAT message is clear though: all those tools (asana, lucidcharts, …) in 1 tool.

But for me: what is the REAL BIG PROBLEM you are solving? That thing that is going to be so super valuable for me? I don’t want to be rude, but that is not clear for me.

Design looks good. but content is not clear because user does not have that much patience to read all. so reduce content as much as possible. and if you add more screenshot images and videos to prove that content means it will be very nice.

First thought: I really don't know where to look at first, if I understand designing correctly the user should be attracted to the most important text when you open the website, maybe you can achieve this by just spacing a bit better, but I'm just a boring coder and accountant so don't mind me

    1. 1

      Thank you!

  11. 1

Do you understand the main message?

    • No.
    • I undestand Cogency is going to help maintain my business relationships. (biggest header)
    • But, as a service, I have no idea what Cogency offers. I didn't bounce around at all just focused on the landing page so maybe it's on another page. Is it a product? Some kind of consultancy? Or a subscription house?

What do you think about the design?

    • TBH, the design too me is too busy. As a consumer, I'm blasted with sites and information by the second. Any other site is within reach in a couple of clicks. I need to be able to understand your offering in a minute or so.
    • Having so much copy on the page forces the user so much effort. The design should be making it easy on them to skim and interpret.
    • I prefer images. I prefer what's on your Features page tbh. It's showing me what I'm going to be using and how. Versus your landing page is just telling me the benefits without the how.

    Any other thoughts

    • I think it's a good thing you're experimenting b/c a bunch of people on IH is not going to give you what you need. You need actual quant data from prospective buyers! Are they clicking try free? Are they converting? What's the bounce rate like? So I think your approach of designing + building + seeking feedback is really smart.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any clarification!

Hey Linda, here's my two cents:

    1. It looks like there's too much going on in the "hero" section so maybe clean it up a little so once a vistor lands on the page they immediately focus on the most important bit (typically the USP/headline/hook statement). Maybe check out https://moz.com/ and https://www.hubspot.com/ for inspiration?

    2. I feel like you should maybe redesign or restructure the entire page. It feels like the page isn't "guiding" me to follow the message of the page and my eyes don't really know where to look at any given time (if that makes sense).

Hope this helps and ps I'm not an expert so take my advice with a grain of salt.

      Thank you!

Biggest thing that is missing on this landing page: screenshots!

Show, don't tell. So many words and no visuals. You want to replace a long list of competitors, but you don't create the trust by showing what's inside.

UPD: I found the screenshots in the Features tab. I think your audience won't be digging that deep to find the screenshots. You need to proactively show your product. Don't hide your treasure!

      Thank you!

Hi, some quick thoughts from me. I think it's almost there.

Growing your online business and maintaining business relationships has never been easier

This look good. It got me thinking "so this is something to help me grow my business and maintain relationships".

Save money and get one subscription for all your needs without the fuss.
Unsubscribe from Asana, Zoom, Miro, Lucidchart, Jira, Trello, ClickUp, Monday, and Calendly.

These two lines tripped me up. I didn't understand what the one subscription was for. "your needs" is kind of vague. Then seeing a list of services to unsubscribe from made me immediately think "oh, is this a service to help me unsubscribe with one click from several services?" The list is pretty long too, so I stopped reading them all after the first three.

Collaborative solution to run your business

I missed this heading at the top since the font was small. You probably don't need it.

When I got to below the fold, the text was a little lengthy, so I'll admit I didn't even read it.

I'm still not sure what the product really does. It sounds like it's some sort of "all-in-one" tool? Maybe the copy can focus on a single problem and how this product solves it?

      Thank you! Thank you!!!

    Hi Linda,

Do you understand the main message?
    Yep

What do you think about the design?
it was nice, but needed some refinement.

    Any other thoughts?

So I didn't get your landing page, and to be brutally honest if I was a CEO or some director I would have glanced over and looked for something else.

However, I saw that your plan was free. So I was like okay let's sign up, and I saw there was a button for "Signup for Github". Thank you. That's exactly where I think I know where you are headed. I don't like asana and I don't like zoom, so I see what you are kind of doing.

I made an account, there was a section that said "Add Team", I run several github organizations and it would be a pain for me to integrate that. Is there a way I could import my whole org at once and create a team? Might be easier than the SSO for github.

You should get rid of the pages. I've switched and many others other to gitbook that's kind of specializing in just pages and integrates with my repository. I will not be using your feature there.

I personally don't enjoy calendar apps. I don't really run my team that way but other people do, my girlfriend does for her team so I can't have an opinion there.

I like the sketch tool, I would love it where if I could sketch and I could have it where it's either part of a Github issue or something. Github doesn't have sketch built in and as a chemist working on the platform I usually use the online sketch, screenshot, and upload separately. So yours will fit nicely in there.

A lot of teams in my area don't use instant messaging because we don't work on computers. So we actually like the github issues for chatting because it's slower rate. I would say focus less on chat system in my opinion.

I'm trying to figure out how to start video meeting and I can't seem to figure it out. Browsed the FAQ

I would put a space in between SignIn -> Sign In (Little things irk CEOs if it isn't refined). Sometimes they harp on the little things just to do that when selling software.

Is there a Launch meeting now? I work in pharma and this would be super helpful since our stuff is very uh fast paced.

    1. 1

Additionally, since you already created a team you can use the team video room to conduct all your meetings. Here is a screenshot to explain better

      Team Video Conference
