Hi,
a few weeks back I had asked the IH community to take a look at my landing page and provide me their brutally honest feedback.. and it did!! I got a ton of very constructive feedback, and as painful as it was, went to work. Fast-forward to now, the landing page has been re-designed from ground up.
I would like to ask the IH community to take another look at the site and as let me know the honest truth :)
Thank you SOO much for your contributions!!!!
Here's some feedback:
🔄 I open the page, and for like 20-30 seconds I don't know what you're selling me. From your header I feel like this: "Is your tool like Google Calendar with Trello?"
Not really "effective" to be completely transparent.
🔄 2-way calendar integration is underlined, but it's not a link - and no one can guess what 2-way calendar integration means?
🔄 You say things like "Collaborative solution to help your business" but you never define exactly how this works or why it's better than the rest, that forces me to have to watch a video
🔄 You don't introduce the concept of sketches or pages. I assume they're like Google Draw and Google Docs?
There's some more feedback about the footer and the pricing. That's a whole different chapter though..
Interesting feedback! I did not realize “2-way cal integration “ would not be self-explanatory. Thank you, that is awesome feedback!!!
Yes I also experienced that feeling. Took me while to understand this is a calendly like thing but then i saw stuff that mentioned trello and i got lost again. You probably try to do something like hubspot pipeline if I understood correctly...
Oh, and the price… calendly alone is $10/user/month, then you have zoom, miro, jira cost.. easily $70-$100/month! Cogency is $7.99/user/month all unlimited!!!
Thank you! You are right on the service, it's a calendly-style scheduler that enables the easy meeting bookings. Once in a meeting, the participants can use the sketch, notes, discussions to collab in real-time! No screen sharing needed! Then, once all done the entire content sketches, files, discussions get added to a task in the users project management board… either ours or any integrated one like jira, trello, or Monday
lol this explanation makes more sense than the whole website - maybe you should just say that ^ using the format:
Paragraph of text explaining a scenario:
When you book a meeting you have to 1 do this, then 2 do that - then the day of the meeting you have to do this, then you send a link to another service to do this, then you also do this and this - so many steps for something that should be easy
Your solution
We created this so that you can do this, that and that in one place for a flat fee
blablabla
Pricing
Simple all-in-one blablabla
Overall I appreciated the layout! I didn't do any reading, mostly just a quick scan, but a few things that stuck out.
There is a loooot of blue. I understand this is your primary color but maybe add a few accent colors? I'm also just not a huge fan of that color of blue so this could just be my personal taste talking
On mobile the footer links don't line up, and you've got a floating
""at the bottom of the app!I am wondering if a price comparison section against competitors should be added?
We essentially hope to offer a much more effordable solution to several paid apps
==> Cogency service for just $7.99/user/month all unlimited!
What do you guys think?
good idea. that's essentially what Basecamp has in their pricing section. Steal it like an artist.
https://basecamp.com/pricing
Lol
You have focused more on selling features rather than selling what it does. Tell visitors how it makes their life easier!
Love the clean and neat look of the site!
The features are clear and easy to understand, However, I was thinking it might be a good idea to make what problem your solving bolder for the first time visitor. I feel that's what keeps a potential client to keep on browsing. You're obviously offering a lot more than other services all in one place, so why not emphasis on that?
May I ask what you do .. and whether you would use this service?
I'm a photographer and designer. I currently work with 5 clients and use a mix of Trello, Calendly & Airtable to manage their requests/meetings. I'm creating a new platform with a fixed monthly rate for the services I'm offering and I'm actually searching for a service that offers all those 3 services together (which by my understanding, Cogency does that and more). In my case, the only main feature I'll be testing with the free plan is if a client can add requests (like Trello). Although I won't be using all the features Cogency offers, like live streaming, I feel like the pricing is extremely good, especially for a company with one employee!
@SalmanGSamar also wanted to mention that Calendly does NOT offer custom domains, but Cogency does! For instance you could have your scheduling Url like this "https://meet.salmangsamar.com/scheduling/me"
Additionally we do a full white label, so your brand persist everywhere!
Yes, that's actually really important for customer experience imo! As for what I meant by client requests; I've recently started using Trello for managing my clients' requests. Each client has a Trello board with a specific list for adding a request, a list for seeing what active request I'm working on, and a list where they can find their finished requests.
I believe Cogency was created mainly for collaboration among team members, to my understanding of course. However, I'm interested in testing out its capabilities by using it in this manner. The white label and custom domain feature would work perfectly if this is possible!
@SalmanGSamar Yes, Cogency absolutely offers for any board to be set as "public" giving your clients the ability to see the board and the progress being made.
Additionally, I would like to mention that we also offer a way to "hide" certain columns from public view! ( for instance, if you would not want your clients to see certain columns such as "bugs" or "ideas" you could be able to set that up )
Sounds great! Please get with me (lmiles@cogency.io) to discuss your exact needs. Particularly I would like to understand what you meant by "if a client can add requests (like Trello)". Thanks!
Pros:
It looks pretty professional and clean.
Cons:
I can appreciate that it's not a very simple concept to fine tune easily, however
It's very long and takes time to understand what the solution you are providing to what problem. It sounds like you're combining a mix of tools people use to achieve one goal (currently separately) into one platform?
Thanks! The main objective is to go from easy meeting scheduling to transferring all meeting contents into a task in your favorite project mgmt system (with one click)
I think your H2 is too long. It took me a while to read and I still didn't come away knowing what your product does or why I need it.
You could try something like:
Schedule and Collaborate on Meetings
Say goodbye to Calendly, Miro, Zoom and Trello with the all-in-one meeting scheduler and collaboration platform.
Then use the 4 boxes to show off the benefits (it's currently the use-cases).
Hi! It's difficult to read the description of the hero section because it's too large. Maybe I'm a person with a small focus span.
I'd divide the text into more small pieces that's more convenient to read.
On an iPhone 12 Pro Max on safari, the margin between the “Pricing” heading is too big, also the pricing cards have too much margin on the sides, I’d make them have 95% width looks about 80% at the moment.
Your footer items also aren’t in line with the Cogency logo and copyright text.
Other than that it looks great! Safari is such a pain to optimise for you’ve done well!
edit: typo fixes
Thank you!!
I tried zooming in (cmd + +) and "Collaborative solution to help your business" header got entirely stuck to the left side of the page, with no margin/padding.
Same in the cards below "Real-Time Collaboration Tools", the left side margin is too small and its asymmetric at some zoom levels.
Edit: I also see a couple of stray quotation marks at the bottom-left most corner of the page.
Except for these, the page looks great! I would be tempted to buy your product if I were running a company and didnt have incumbent solutions.
Hey Linda,
There are a lot of different features on here and different terms used to describe who this product is for.
For example, in the "Real-Time Collaboration" Section, you talk about connecting with customers, even though this sounds like a product for co-workers.
It's unclear how customers would impact project management and internal tasks between team members, which it seems like this product is catered toward.
Think big picture: who is this product for and how does it make their lives better?
Nothing wrong with making this a hyper-niche product for a specific vertical and scaling outward. I think that would help clarify your messaging and value proposition.
Design is pretty consistent, kudos!
It is all about the meeting-to-task process! From scheduling the meeting to it’s conclusion. Tools like whiteboard aka Sketch and notes and sharing files are used during the meeting to discuss ideas, or brainstorm
It seems that the product does a lot of things. It will be nice to see more screenshots of those features.
I have two questions, did you implement all of those features? How the free plan makes a scene for you, assuming the expanses for each user in computing and storage?
Yes, all the features are fully implemented. The free plan allows for all the features to be used but in a very limited capacity. Basically signing up for the pro plan unlocks everything to be unlimited!
The storage is offered hundred gigabytes on the pro plan and an extra hundred gigabytes as an add-on
If it's ok to ask, how long did it take you to build it?
About a year. Unfortunately the first few months I did not have a clear direction, so most of the features have been implemented in the last six months!
amazing, good luck
Have you tried the product?
I'm solo founder, I don't have meetings, if my state will change for sure I'll give it a try
We have founders who added the scheduling link on their website for their customers to schedule meetings with them. One even added a bubble link to every page!
In my head, this is a collaboration tool. I didn't think of it as a Calendly replacement.
Well, now it’s both! :-)
Hi Linda, great page. Congrats on creating it! No trivial task. It was hard for me to understand in 1 minute what the product does. I think that is something that can be improved.
Obviosuly I do not want to sound mean, just help out into creating a simple user experience :)
It's 7.99 per user but are my customers counted as users or can they use the software for free?
It would be a headache to pay for a client that I only make a call a month. Also, for some providers that we talk only from time to time.
@Fabri only users you need to pay for are your team members who will be able to create/schedule meetings, etc.. all clients you are meeting with are considered as "external users" and you never have to pay for that! Fyi, our meetings allow for up to 500 external participants!
Everything I could say has been noted by @orliesaurus and perhaps in a way better format. My only suggestion for you would be to add the product name front and center on the page as well. Good luck!
Thank you!!
My feedback -
Overall, I like what you've built. However, unless there's a clear answer to why I should try your product, I'd not click sign-up.
I hope this feedback helps. Let me know if you have questions @lindamiles
@thebigk We essentially hope to offer a much more affordable solution to several paid apps
Calendly ( $10/user/month )
Miro ($8/user/month)
Zoom ($14.99/user/month)
Jira/Trello/Monday.com/etc..
==> Cogency service for just $7.99/user/month all unlimited!
But ultimately its a all-in-one service that integrates with other task management platforms to make the "Meeting-To-Task" flow as easy and effortless as possible
Cool. It'd be awesome if you could make that obvious above the fold on your landing page.
I'd suggest focusing on the hero section and making sure that you explain what your product does + who it's for + what pain point it solves or what's the desirable outcome of using the product.
Another point I'd like to mention is social proof + claim proof points. For example: "Why teams rely on Cogency" - testimonials and/or proof bar and/or case studies. Reasons: "But... can I trust this product? Is it better than existing products? Should I switch from Calendly? etc."
Yes, I agree that we probably should have added some testimonials, etc..
To you your point though, the price alone makes it way worth it! Calendly alone is $10/user/month, then you add zoom, miro, jira cost.. easily $70-$100/month!
Cogency is $7.99/user/month for everything, all unlimited!!!
Hey @lindamiles - it depends.
(disclaimer: I'm a conversion copywriter, so I spend 70% of my time on thinking about hesitations & objections)
I work with B2B startups, so decisions are made not just based on price.
Additional factors:
Not to forget about:
The point of social proof is not to say "Good tool, works." It's to show your ICPs that other companies, just like theirs, are using this new product in the same context, for the same purposes, to achieve the same goals.
I don't know if you have specific teams / types of businesses in mind, but if you do, talking to them can help separate "possible objections" from "definitely objections."
There is no need to replace any tools. Cogency integrates with all the other tools very well! We simply offer a scheduling tool to get the meetings scheduled, full calendar synchronization with Google and Outlook, and offer some additional tools like sketch, notes, and file management to be used during the meeting. You can use any software like zoom or WebEx if you prefer, or you can use the natively built in Cogency Video. Once the meeting is conducted you can transfer all the contents like notes, files, and even the meeting recording into a project management system of your choice. We integrate with Jira, trello, Monday, and more
The color combination is very good. I like your website at first sight. It feels like I want to explore more on your website and learn more about which kind of services your business provides. One suggestion is to improve blog page design as it looks dull compared to your overall website design.
Yes, absolutely! Thank you :)
Clicked on video to understand the offering. General criticism is (and most indiehacker videos do this) everything is too fast - it may look impressive to have a quick cutting video but its almost impossible to assess if the app does what I want. Maybe a walk through of a single USP's - done in normal time. Also lose the animation - I would rather see full screenshots of the app so I can decide if I want to go further with it - without having to signup / install it.
I must admit I do agree with you on this one. I want to re-do the video to focus a bit more in detail on the easy-of-use of meeting scheduling, and then the meeting itself. (Need to find volunteers to be on the video with me for this.. lol)
Would like to say the product looks technically impressive, so props for getting this far !! This market is getting saturated - so you may have to pivot and / or niche down to hit market fit. The good news is you have done the hard bit (the dev) so you are in a good place.
Hey Linda! I like the way the information is presented neatly and cleanly.
At the same time, I have, by and large, one important comment: After watching, I did not catch what is your key feature and how do you differ from other similar solutions? I personally compared your features with Jira.
I also assume there may not be such a new feature that will really surprise the user. In this case, I would emphasize that you do not overload the interface and your tool is most convenient for non-tech teams (just assuming). So being more precise about who's your target audience might be a good idea considering the amount of the available project management tools.
Good luck!
Thank you!!
The key feature is that we wanted to offer a very affordable solution that focuses on easy meeting scheduling and the meeting itself. Countless times the only way for participants to really connect with one another or to share content was doing screen sharing and we wanted to offer tools that would enable brainstorming, sketching, any type of discussion or note-taking without having to share your screen, which meant it had to be a real time collaborative solution. Finally, all the generated content needed to be transferred effortlessly into a task management system such as Jira, or Monday for Trello, or the native Cogency Boards. So we created a solution to transfer all the content with one click into a task in one of those systems.
Having looked only at the homepage, these are my thoughts!
Take the shadow off the nav bar
"Sign In"
I think the header should say something closer to "A platform for Today's teams. Schedule, Meet, and Track with Cogency". My reasoning, is that currently, you're telling me what it does, rather than what it is. Obviously you can change the wording, this was just my first stab at some hero copy
The page is really long and a little repetitive. I think there may be opportunities to take up less space, like putting the 4 value props in an accordion with adapting imagery, shown here: https://www.figma.com/proto/7UMObKdxjYb00fEyBsssHe/Accordion?page-id=0%3A1&node-id=101%3A2&viewport=241%2C48%2C0.13&scaling=scale-down-width&starting-point-node-id=101%3A53
(click through the accordion in order, and click 'R' to restart the prototype)
I think the order of the content on this homepage should be:
Just my 2 cents!
Wow, love the feedback!!! Thank you!!
Looks good. Had to look hard to find these:
In the Unlimited sketch desc it is missing a full stop but the other similar areas have one.
'guarantee afficient delivery' should be 'efficient'.
'Take meeting notes, keep documentation ( technical or otherwise ), or create public pages such as newsletters. Select from a variety of templates to keep your focus on the content' would normally not have the spaces inside the (brackets).
Had to stop there as kids calling.
Thank you!!. Already corrected the typos :)
