Please help me validate an idea ๐Ÿ˜Ž

LetsTalkAbout.{domain_name}/something

So, the primary idea is to provide a short explanation about some topic. Topics will be different from different fields.

For instance, "about" Branding. So, there will be a very short post with an explanation this way:

A brand is a defined set of emotions conveyed through visuals and messaging that are consistently woven through every touch point of a company or product.

Also, there will be a vector picture about the topic, so while sharing the topic to social media, the picture will be pulled by Twitter/FB/etc.

Would you use such a website/app?

I would not use it in its current proposed state. As others pointed out, I already have tools that can do a superset of this functionality (google, chatgpt, midjourney).

I don't think the value prop of offering an image AND a picture in the same shot is good. The percentage of times i need an image and text is like 0.1%, I usually just need text.

Also, there's a lot of friction in domain name discovery. You plan to cover every word in the English dictionary? What happens when I ask letstalkabout.domain.com/ecommerce
    and there's nothing on ecommerce?

You have to rely on search engines as an entry point (or create your own search engine). Why would i go through a search engine to get to your site when the search engine itself gives me the same value prop?

i'm sorry but isn't it easier to just google something up?

I am a little confused on the premise but I've built an educational tool before with AI (app.getlearnery.com). The issue I found as others have pointed out is this doesn't actually solve any specific problem. As indiehackers we usually want to solve a very specific problem for a niche audience. It can work, but it will take longer to get to a high MMR because B2C products generally have a massive uphill.

xd! I also had this idea, then I realized that it already exits (Reddit), but your idea is good if you can pull it off. there is whatsapp, there is also messenger, also telegram. Reddit already exists doesn't mean it's over. Add your own blend to it. Build better version of Reddit. Good luck mate.

Usually if I'm confused about something my number one go-to spot is going to be reddit. But with reddit subthreads being private due to the blackout, if you market this to the right audience and use some SEO I'm sure you could gain popularity fast (at-least for the short term).

There is also ChatGPT that you need to consider...

How would this be different than Wikipedia? Or a short Google query like "define brand"?

I don't think its something you can earn from,

    • people use google and chatGpt for search that can provide them what they need,
If someone wants short unique description of branding they can just search 'short definition of branding ' and if someone wants more detailed answer they can search that right away from the same platform
    • people have certain learning habits that is very difficult to change.

I think you can rebrand it to something like a learning app for children where they can learn new words, their meanings with images in interactive and fun way

I would use a service that makes simple explanations of concepts. I never finish books and technical papers. I just need simple explanations to apply to my work operations. Doing it for a specific industry would make more sense.

Do you plan to build this as a fun side project or something you want to earn money from? If I'm being honest I don't see alot of people paying to use something like this when they can just use google, Wikipedia, gpt, etc.

Also, not the best idea to just ask people "would you use this?" since people would say "yes" just to sound nice many times.

    Hey there ๐Ÿ‘‹

I struggled to imagine the end product a bit, for example, when I type "branding" in google, I do get a short explanation and an image about it. Do you mean something like that? Or what problem does it exactly solve or what is the twist? Nowadays it's pretty easy and accessible to get an explanation on some topic + an image. But probably I am missing something ๐Ÿ™Œ

Thx for your reply. In my case, it's:

      • unique "short" explanations about a topic I choose
      • unique "picture" about this topic

How do you plan to monetize this?
