I think we need more detail here. How will you be different? How will you work with companies? Why do your commissions need to be ultra-low if you're doing this extra work, and how low is ultra-low?

Sure, without giving too much IP away.
We aim to address multiple pain points within tech recruitment but two of the majors are cost to bring on an employee and bad faith in recruitment.

We're going to be aggressive in our acquisition and assist employers in bringing onboard the right candidates.

For us the tech we build it on is irrelevant. It's about tackling the problem beforehand, not building a platform.

Hope that provides a little clarity.

OK, I understand your desire to protect your USPs. That being the case, I think the only way you can validate this idea is to get a first customer or two for an MVP and refine your working practices with them, possibly for free.

It doesn't sound like this is a business that can scale without also increasing overhead, but maybe that's fine, and maybe you want a lifestyle business - not everything has to be a unicorn.

One thing I would say having used IT recruitment companies myself is that whilst the commission has been high (varying between 12% and 20% of the initial salary), that hasn't really been a problem as long as the candidate is appropriately skilled, a good cultural fit, and committed. Don't think you have to compromise what you can charge as long as you're actually delivering good people to good companies - customers will pay for that.

I particularly used to resent recruitment companies sending me their D-list candidates because they very loosely fit the spec and they probably haven't had any interviews lately - that situation is benefitting no one. If your processes avoid that, you're already onto a good thing.

For context, I'm in the UK but not London-based.

So after a brief spell of self-analysis, I've started to put some ideas out there and hopefully build whichever appeals to you guys. If you've read some of my previous posts you'll see that I've consistently failed in my startups. I believe this was due to a lack of validation and passion. So I've shortlisted 3 ideas and I'm putting them out for validation.

Let me know what you think of the first: Tech Superstars.

Unlike traditional recruitment services Tech Superstars will work closely with companies to help them fulfil their employee requirements. Commissions will be ultra-low and applicant tracking systems will be abolished.
